Sessions is an American apparel company located in Scotts Valley, California .
In 1983, Sessions was founded in Sunnyvale, California by Joel Gomez, a skater from Santa Cruz, as a retail store and clothing line that bridged skateboarding, snowboarding, and music. Sessions started a mail order business and ran an in-house record label between 1985 and 1997. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, the mail-order catalog was often included as a circular with Alternative Press, SPIN, and other American music magazines, coinciding with the rise and acceptance of underground college and alternative rock by mainstream media.
Today, Sessions is dedicated to snowboarding and action skiing apparel that includes snowboard jackets, snowboard pants, gloves, hats and shirts. Sessions sells its clothing through retailers in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan and Australia. It created an interesting snowboarding jacket for the 2009 snow season true to its music roots with a Metallica snowboarding jacket complete with Skull Candy amplifier and speakers built right into the jacket.
Sessions was pivotal in helping to create and in supporting the Tim Brauch Memorial Fund. Tim Brauch worked for Sessions when his life was cut short. Sessions and the Tim Brauch Fund are proud to have been the backbone of the fundraising effort for the past 5 years with the annual Tim Brauch Memorial Contest, as well as many community based fundraisers held to benefit the park in Tim's name. In the past 2 years alone, Sessions, the Tim Brauch Memorial Fund, and private donations have raised over $485,000 for the Scotts Valley skatepark with the help of sponsorships and donations from countless friends throughout the skateboard industry.
Daniel Claus, an artist connected with a Sessions store in Chicago, put together a movie and small magazine/catalog called “Eight Ball” for Sessions. Pro skater/artist John Grigley who was riding for Vision at the time drew designs for T-shirts as did Van Franco.
Sessions signed Corey Duffel on to their PRO team. Sessions signed Tara Dakides to their 2009 pro team.
